Every single moment in history is different from the previous ones, but the cosmic savageness which presented itself on the present one has been a very important trigger for the creation of Bichochán. Personified in those who feel dissatisfied with certain shapes and the inertia that produce automatized beings, this movement approaches culture and society like a scream, to bring them out of the trance, from self-importance and individualistic solitude. The Manifest was written during September, 2008.

1. Potentially, any person could be a part of the Bichochán movement because although it has an ideological stand, it starts to exist from the premise that enunciates: the human being mutates throughout time and can change at will. The possibility of this not happening is directly connected with the lack –or superficiality- of self-consciousness and introspection: unmistakable deficiencies of these times.

2. Opposed to the self-importance that adulthood brings, Bichochán is a call for infantile characteristics – though not in a ingenuous manner – to return. People tend to forget all about them in a certain point of life, considering they are obviously excluded from what is considered to be “mature”. To regain the space for intuition, playfulness, spontaneity that bring an exaltation of what is unexpected, breaking up monotonous and conventionally “adult” lives which cause great dissatisfaction and depression. This regaining of what’s playful can be expressed in the form of simple games in the public areas, all the way to games related to sexuality and eroticism, a development and maturing of the non lineal and formal way of thinking, and a widening of the creativity and it’s application in all of its possible ways.

3. It is necessary for people to allow themselves an escape from what we call “reality”. By saying this, we are not suggesting to live absorbed in a parallel reality, but to be open minded about other levels of reality, to be able to play in between the limits of one and the others, and little by little, to be able to dissolve these limits, widening the range of action, interaction, of thought and sensibility - provoking a movement towards a true freedom and authenticity.

4. To allow fantasy to access our daily lives, letting it flood the mind and words in order for imaginary people and objects to enter our life, feeding it with what in “normal conditions” is considered impossible. To break these “normal conditions”, to be able to doubt about norms and precepts, unquestionable traditions and prejudices, our duties and obligations, in order to open a reflecting space related to our deepest wishes and desires. To disentangle and distinguish in between those things that are inadequate from those that are adequate for each person. In this way, to release the first ones and preserve the second ones, in a responsibility act, where election and will are the only motors for action.

5. To bring out the importance of a space for discussion, with the conviction that the exchange of ideas nourishes and expands the mind, making her more permeable to other voices, bringing down certain artificially solidified barriers by the hand of constructive self-questionings.

6. To praise the things we enjoy, in order to abolish the idea that suffering is more pure than happiness. Although suffering is a fundamental part in order for people to achieve happiness and a healthy development, we praise happiness and joy. We appeal to every person to engage with themselves in the search for identity and the self well-being, and that they engage also to awake the searching thirst in as much people as possible. We consider there are as many ways of being happy as the amount of people who exist; these ways must be found.

7. We believe in sharing what’s material and non-material; in equality between every human being; in the importance of the groups of people with whom we discuss and exchange impressions. We believe in long conversations that happen during week days, in furtive encounters during the night, in long walks, lunches and pic- nics at any place. We believe in the mutual respect, in the pacific exchange and in the solving of problems through the use of words.

8. Children are a never ending source of inspiration and humility. People of smaller size that must be respected and taken seriously as an adult is. With the firm conviction that they are the ones who still preserve a primitive instinct which has not been modeled or normalized yet, that they are the holders of a primary and delicate sensibility, and that they don’t fear what may be ridiculous or wrong, we plead for a conscious raising of children, in order for those qualities not to be lost, in order for these new generations to be able to escape from the powerful and imposed self-importance that is a product of this world full of ego and narcissism, and, in this way, for them to generate more free and true social bonds.

9. Nature must be respected once again by us, considering it is she the one who provides us with sustenance and life, and that we are a part of her. The conviction that without her there is no existence must be regenerated, that she is not controllable even though science and technology intend her to be. To keep up with her in her movements, accept her thunderstorms, thank her devotion towards us, understand her cataclysms as the only system of defense she has. To go back with humility to what’s essential –us as a part of her- to provide her a healing route, and to save human life.

10. Not to wait for results nor to act in order to be approved by others: the search for truth is individual, infinite, and an end on it’s own. There are no methodologies, and the search must be conscious, obtaining satisfaction from it. Transcendence in any subject or terrain is personal and it is manifested towards the interior of everyone, although the access to it is through dialogue with others, and experience.

11. Fear is fought off by facing whatever scares us, going towards the dark part of what arouses terror in order to prove in our own bodies that these fears are only idealizations in a negative form. This is how we get to know the roots of fear, and at the same time, this is how the initial symptom comes to an end.

Things just don’t happen in the world: every single one of us contributes with our life. The way in which each life is lived affects everything else.
